Since I started getting into planting this summer I was thinking it could be fun to rubber stamp on flower pots.  (I wish my flowers looked as good as the picture above!) I am thinking you can do a cute little border around the top of the flower pot and maybe decorate it with butterflies, bees, or basically any kind of image.   I have a butterfly and bee stamp sketch on My Rate My Sketches page that I think would be perfect to use!  You can try stamping on both the round and rectangle flower pots.  Let me know if you have tried doing this!

So I did manage to start my rubber stamped coasters project.  I decided to use my Turtle Sundae Stamp and my paint pens!   I used  StazsOn ink , but I didn't press hard enough so some of the turtles came out lighter than I wanted.  I started to go back and touch up the outline with a thin black sharpie!  So far so good!  I still need to figure out what I want to make for a border or maybe put something in the background, it just looks to plain with just the character in the middle.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have finally gotten my craft space in order!  I added a few items to help with organizing and decorating!  So now I can draw rubber stamp designs and work on craft projects free of clutter!  Here are a few of the items I bought to decorate my room.

1.   A purple sheer curtain on the window.
2.  Two more clear storage drawers.
3.  A little ottoman for my reading, thinking/relaxing nook.
4.  A black small shelf case for more storage and a floor lamp for lighting.
     
My favorite thing I added was displaying some 2 Cute Cards from the design team and fans!  I got the idea from sammye jo who did something like this for her creations and inspirations.
Now the only thing I need to do is start filling the clear storage drawers and black shelf case and go through my tall bookcase and only put items in there I use often.  I hope I can keep this room just like the pictures spic and span! :)  Though I just know it will probably turn to a mess in a few hours!!

So I stumbled across this tutorial on how to rubber stamp on candles!  I think this is a fantastic way to decorate plain candles and another great way to use rubber stamps.  You can view the tutorial here.  I can't wait to try this, I bought a cheap white candle at walmart the other day so I have everything I need to give this a try.  Let me know if you have tried this before and how it worked out!  Don't forget to check back here wednesday to see my rubber stamped coasters using plank flooring samples from Home Depot!

I created this sketch the other day with some of my colorful pens I have.  I wanted to make something inspired by 4th of July that is just around the corner!.   So I came up with this quick sketch of a cute little owl holding sparklers.  I am not sure if I like the little hat or not and I also played around with the eyes.  I am thinking to take this little guy and create some more simple designs with him.  Let me know what you think of this sketch on the Rate My Sketches page.

Today I made my first rubber stamped soap.  I bought green dial soap, white dial soap and some off brand from the dollar store.  I tired to even out the white dial soap by slicing it with a razor but that didn't go to well.  It was very hard to get the soap even and by the time I was done the soap was half gone! lol  Not to mention the soap smell gave me such a headache lol.  So I noted when I purchase more soap to maybe get unscented.  
  I decided to use my "Happy Crabby" stamp on the green dial soap.  The directions said to use StarsOn ink and permanent markers to color in your image but I just used an ink pad I had and prisma color pencils.  I was worried that the ink would smear once I put the Mod Podge on!.  Oh I also used my white paint pen to create little highlights and make the eyes stand out more!  Once I had everything colored in I cut as close to the crab as possible, put down some mod podge on the soap then stuck down the tissue paper crab and slathered on mod podge on top.
As you can see the black ink did not smear when I put the mod podge on top, but it did make the black fade, so I had to go back and touch up the black lines with a extra fine point sharpe.  So I bet if I use the StarsOn ink it won't fade!  Over all I think it came out pretty cool and I do like the look of using colored soap!

So I was at Home Depot this weekend and my boyfriend's mom and stepdad were looking at carpet and flooring for their home.  We were shown this new flooring called Plank flooring which goes down easy and gives the feel and look of real wood.   The cool thing was that they had square samples you could take home to see which color you liked.  They are perfectly square and water resistant pieces and I thought I bet these would make great coasters!  So I took 4 bamboo and for Blonde Maple and I can't wait to stamp on them and use my paint pens!  I think it is a good way to recycle these samples because I bet most get thrown away after they don't need them anymore and plus they are FREE!

So since father's day is coming up I thought I would do a father inspired sketch today.  Since I know a lot of dad's like fishing or in my case my dad has fish as pets.  I thought it would be fun to do a Daddy fish and his child!  Now that I think about it I should have made this fish an angel fish or a discus fish, those are two of my dad's favorite fish!  Let me know what you think of this sketch on the Rate My Sketches page.

So a while back I came across a tutorial in one of my magazines on how to decorate bar soap with rubbers stamps.  I thought it was a great idea and have kept it in the back of my mind to try.  I probably haven't tried it yet because I don't have any wax the instructions calls for.   So searching for other ways to decorate soaps with rubber stamps I came across this great tutorial where you don't need to use any wax!  Check out this tutorial by  Denise Thomas here.  I can't wait to try this out!  I just need to pick up some bar soap and I plan on giving this a try tonight!
