So I have been inspired by Maddie Bradshaw ever since I found out she had started a business at a young age. She is the creator of Snap Caps and created a successful business and she is only 15 years old! I was very excited when I found out she released a book, though it is geared toward kids I still wanted to get my hands on a copy! So I ordered it last week and it arrived in the mail today! Can't wait to check it out and see if there are any tips I can use for 2 Cute Rubber Stamps or for my Freelance/Licensing.

I am so glad the 2 Cute DT is back up and running! So go stop by and check out what cute creation was posted today! We took a break for a little bit, but I figured it was time to get back into gear! I wanted this weeks projects to have an easter theme since easter will be here before we know it! We are also looking for new DT members too! Right now we need someone to post on thursday, saturday and sunday, so 3 spots open! so let me know if you would be interested!
So I have finally started a website/blog for Heidi Schwoerer Illustration!
It is not too fancy but I did get 2 blog posts up, so go check it out! I am hoping in time some of my 2 Cute Rubber Stamp designs will be licensed! :) May make a facebook page for it too! So I was doing a search this morning and came across a few articles on using rubber stamps on fondant! The picture above is from CakeJournal.com, where she rubber stamps on fondant to put over a cupcake! It is a pretty clever idea, for baby showers, birthdays etc... Make sure to check out the article to see all the instructions!
I am going to be putting my Digi Shop back up here on this website! I think having them available here and on Etsy I will have more exposure plus won't have to keep re-listing them here on my website, they will always be available!
So, I am back once again thinking about strictly being a freelance artist. Right now I have 3 freelance projects for rubber stamp companies that I am working on which means, I am working on them first before 2 Cute! I am wondering if it would be better if I just let other rubber stamp companies worry about the business end and I can just crank out the designs, not worry about promoting, selling, shipping and wholesale!
Are there any rubber stamp companies out there needing an illustrator to create designs for them? Maybe I will try and seek out some more companies before I make my decision! So I love to buy craft magazines and be inspired by all the fun crafts! So I was looking in my Craft and Things Aug 2009 issue for ideas and found fun guest room slippers to make! The pattern is originally from the book, Weekend Sewing: More Than 40 Projects and Ideas for Inspired Stitching by Heather Ross. I have been wanting to make some house slippers and even maybe some slippers to wear outside and I did find a crochet pattern but I take forever to crochet! So I thought I bet I can whip up a pair of these slippers in no time! But the cool thing is I was going to rubber stamp on the fabric! How cute would it be to have rubber stamped slippers! Has anyone made slippers and them rubber stamped on them?
So, I am going to be coloring in ALL my 2 Cute Rubber Stamps and Digital Stamp images that I think would go well on cakes! I think they will look great as edible images and if all goes right I may be able to license them to Larry's House of Cakes where I work!
Right off the bat I think the Original Cowboy Kid would work best so I am gonna color him first! I also think Penguin Fun and Turtle Sundae would be cute too! Even the little Mini Cupcake!! This would be really cool if I could do this and could see my images on cakes! So I came up with this sketch at least a week ago, I wanted to create some type of "love birds" to go with my "wedding/Love" line. I thought these little owl birds looked so cute cuddling underneath their umbrella! Let me know what you think here on the Rate My Sketches page!
So I went tanning in a tanning bed for the first time on monday! It was a bit weird being in a coffin like bed but it has been something that I have wanted to try for a long time. So in order to check the progress of your tan you get to pick a sticker to put on while you tan! I chose to put on a cute little heart (you can kind of see it on the right side above), but I was thinking how cute would it be to have a cute little penguin, or cupcake? So I have been thinking about how I can make my own 2 Cute stickers! The thing is you need a lot of the same image for you need to use one each time you tan, or maybe if it is made of something that is durable and will not loose it's stickiness. I was even thinking it would be cool if you could "stamp" on an image and then it would fade over time, but then you wouldn't be able to see the progress till it faded so that wouldn't work so well. I still am gonna see if I can come up with some cute tan friendly images! I just think it would be so much fun, and you can use them if tanning outside, in a tanning bed or even with tanning in a bottle! Let me know what you think!
