I just wanted to wish everyone a "Happy Halloween"! I thought why not submit my colored vampire owl to illustration friday for this week! This week's topic is "Haunt". He may not be much of a scary owl vampire but he sure is cute!

So I had this great idea to turn my "Balloon Birdie" into a "Baseball Birdie". My sister loves the New York Yankees and Derek Jeter so I thought why not put their logo his hat and then his name and number on the balloon! I then printed out the image on watercolor paper and created embossed lines on my scoring board my mom gave me that I haven not used until now! I think it came out pretty good and I love the little bit of texture the watercolor paper gives. (it is a little hard to see the texture in the pictures).
So this birdie may look a bit familiar. This little birdie was created from my banner sketch above! I have always wanted to create an illustration and submit it on Illustration Friday's website and lucky enough this weeks topic is "sky'" So I thought this cute little balloon birdie would fit perfect :). I sketched, inked and colored this illustration on my iPad in adobe ideas.
So I thought it would be fun to share a picture of my desk! This is part of my "craft room" as I call it! I usually am doing all my blogging and facebook page updating right here on my mac desktop! Along with, sketching, inking and writing in my notebooks! I think I am addicted to notebooks because I seem to want to get one every time I go to the store. You can see the small pile of notebooks I have on my desk! Oh and I love colored pens too! My favorites are the colored Pilot G-2 gel pens (I use the purple one the most). I also love to open my curtains and let the sun shine through it just puts me in a good mood! I have my iPad 2 and my bamboo stylus which is what I use to create all of my line and colored art. My favorite mug with a picture of "Edna" the fashion designer from Disney's the Incredibles that I use to hold all my pens, pencils and markers! My lava lamp off to the right, which does not like to work that good, but it is cool when it does. You may notice too I love the color purple :). I would love to see pictures of your "craft room"! Leave a link below :)
I am excited to announce I have just got picked up by Hang to Dry Appliqué, who will begin to start licensing some of my cute line art. The timing couldn't have been any better since I am, re-vamping 2 Cute Ink and looking for NEW companies to license my artwork with. Below are samples of the first 2 images that they have turned into cute appliqués! One is based off of my cute turkey design and the other based off of my vampire owl design. Digitized Appliqué, are designs for your embroidery machine so you can create and personalize fun t-shirts, towels, pillows, banners and even blankets! So make sure to stop on by if you have an embroidery machine and pick up Turkey with Pumpkin and Sweet Owl!
I think the samples created are so adorable don't you? Which one is your favorite? Mine is the Trick or Treat tote with the Sweet Owl on it! So this morning after I took out my two dogs, Bear and Cosmo (Twice, they like to go out once then go back to bed for an hour then go out again! lol. I then decided to sit up in bed and start sketching something for my new banner on my iPad in adobe ideas. I used my black birdie character and altered the over all design a tad and decided to have the birdie hold a balloon. I decided to go with a birthday design because my sisters birthday is tomorrow and thought I could tweak it and perhaps color and print to give to her as a birthday card!
So I played around with a wash of color and then decided to do a couple more quick sketches right beside it! I had fun just letting loosing and sketched away! It is too bad that the banner height is not taller but I think it still turned out cute cropped! What do you guys think? I am thinking since I am making changes to 2 Cute Ink, what better way to kick it off with a fresh new look! I have decided I wanted my tag line to be "A Girl That Draws"! So I can't wait to create a new banner and I am thinking to load it with fun sketches! Today is the start of
