I was happy to start the New Year with a Sketch! One of my goals this year is to sketch more and to challenge myself! So here is my sketch I created yesterday! I played along with doodleaday and 365doodleswithjohannafritz and both of the inspiration words were New Year and Happy 2016. So I decided to draw a very popular New Year's Resolution which is also on my list this year, "losing weight". So I created this quick sketch of a pig exercising with some small weights in workout gear! Can't wait to continue sketching and creating new art!

I am going to try to play along with the doodle a day challenge via instagram. Each day is an inspiration word to doodle something. I decided to try my new technique and sketch and then add color on top. So "Sun" was yesterdays word and I I thought of a girl holding a crab on the beach in the sun. I am trying to experiment with different art styles and of course using color! Hoping this will help me find my way to start creating collections for art licensing.
Step 1. I created a quick little monster sketch on my ipad using adobe ideas! Step 2. I created a new layer and placed it above the little monster sketch layer. I turned the opacity down to about 40% and started coloring. I always make sure to then bring the color layer back to 100% and check how my coloring is looking. Step 3. I turned the color layer to 100% and hid the sketch layer. Now it is easy to make changes or add to the image. This is still needs to be touched up but I liked the over all look! Step 4. I decided this little monster needed a girl friend. So I copied my monster layer. (oh I think I forgot to mention it is sometimes good to create layers for different parts of your illustration. ex. I put the hat on a different layer). I then added a purple bow, made eyelashes and changed the girl monsters glasses to pink along with her socks! So I think this little monster couple would look cute on maybe a valentine card? maybe a shirt or tote bag? I think I may have to turn this little couple into a digital stamp! I can see these as little plush and maybe even clay characters! My goal is to start branching out and create more than just digital stamps! What can you see these monsters as?
I started playing around with the sketchbook pro again and I really love this app for sketching! It feels really naturally like if you were sketching with a pencil and paper. I was in an Easter mood so I came up with this little bunny giving an Easter egg as a present to his little chick friend. I also added a touch of color to the design below just for fun!
So I REALLY want to doodle more this year and I was at Michael's the other week and came across the sketch journal above. I picked it up and thought this would be perfect to capture all my doodles in one spot. The doodle book also states that you don't have to doodle everyday but it is just a place to hold all your fun doodles. SO I was excited because this is what I have been looking for! I decided to grab my pencil and eraser and start doodling and came up with this fun Popcorn + Salt sketch in honor of National Popcorn day! It is fun to sketch on paper vs the iPad because it is a different feel :) But I really love the iPad plus I just found a new app that records your steps as you draw! Neat huh?
I am happy to release a new digital stamp called "Fall in Love Kitties". I have been trying to sketch more and when I posted the sketch below in my fb group it really got a lot of "likes". So this gave me the incentive to ink and turn them into a cute digi! I was debating if I should make the cats "hairy" or leave more of a solid line and I chose to do a solid line. I actually inked this digital stamp in a new app calle Adobe Illustrator Draw with the brush tool. This app is suppose to replace Adobe Ideas which I currently use. So far it is not to bad, just a little different with where things are. I think I may do a review on both Ideas and Draw next week and maybe even haven video! Fall in Love Kitties Digital Stamp is now available in my 2CuteInk Etsy Shop.
So yesterday I decided to draw a winter cardinal. I thought it would be fun to give him a scarf and make him look like he is keeping warm with all that snow! I love adding coloring to my sketches because I think it makes them come alive!
